0mega's Blog: Cloud Strife vs Revan (Final Fantasy vs Star Wars)

"Time is like a river Moving forward never back Oh love, flow like a current Sweep these burdens from my path Cause I’m forgiven, don’t wanna live in the Used to be’s Please help me Leave the past, in the past Leave the past, in the past

Laura Bretan

The two most iconic RPG protagonists of all time. Amnesiac warriors uncovering lost secrets of the ancient builders, all to stop a man who fancies himself a god.

Cloud Strife, the tortured former mercenary of Final Fantasy VII

Revan, the prodigal Jedi of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Following their encounters with the secrets of ancient progenitors, their memories were scrambled, only saved from oblivion through their spiritual bond with the women they would come to love. In time they would join the fight against the powers seeking to ravage their worlds, only to find the secrets to the conflict were rooted in ancient legends, all while piecing together the truth of their pasts. But if these two masters of blade and magic found themselves in the other's crosshairs, would Cloud bring the rain of blades, or would Revan's Force of command make this ex-soldier kneel?

Before We Begin

This blog will focus on the core canon for both characters, excluding dubiously canon material such as Final Fantasy Tactics and Dissidia for Cloud and Star Wars: Supernatural Encounters and Expanded Supernatural Encounters for Revan. I may make a separate blog that includes these materials at a later date.

For Cloud, this will be the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series; for the games, this is the original Final Fantasy VII and the two first installments in its remake, the supplementary games Dirge of Cerberus, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, The First Soldier, and Ever Crisis. Adding to this are the film Advent Children and the short films Last Order: Final Fantasy and On the Way to a Smile- Episode: Denzel. Rounding out the official story are the novels On the Way to a Smile, The Kids Are Alright: A Turk's Side Story, and the Remake novel Trace of Two Pasts. Out of universe guides like Crisis Core Guide, the Prima/Strategy Guide, and the Ultimania: Final Fantasy VII will round out the material. There will be supplementary material from other Final Fantasy Games included when factoring in crossover characters like Gilgamesh, given that he has been encountered by both Cloud's party and the parties of many other games in the series.

For Revan, our main focus is on his appearances within the original Knights of the Old Republic video game and its sequel The Sith Lords, the Revan novel, and his appearances in the Flashpoint, Shadow of Revan, and Echoes of Oblivion story expansions of The Old Republic MMORPG. Material from the Wizards of the Coast RPG guide, the KOTOR Strategy Guides, and the Chronicles of the Old Republic will elaborate on many of his abilities. We will also pull from all of Star Wars Legends expanded media for further details on Force powers, scaling, and duelling abilities. This Revan blog will exclude Disney Canon, as Revan does not currently feature in it beyond vague references and implied appearances.

As a heads up, some sections of item lists within this blog are taken directly from the official Final Fantasy wiki, Strategywiki and kotorlists websites to save time rewriting extensive lists from scratch.

Finally, a huge shout-out to the following blogs and threads for their extensive information, scans, and calculations, which all greatly helped in the making of this blog:

Cloud Strife

Growing up in the small village of Nibelheim, Cloud Strife was entranced by the elite fighters of the Shinra Company, and endeavoured to join the SOLDIER program. But though he served well as a infantryman alongside his friend Zack Fair, Cloud failed to measure up to SOLDIER's requirements.

However, during one mission to his home town, Zack's mentor Sephiroth discovered a terrible truth; he was a genetically evolved science experiment, forged from the extraterrestrial parasite Jenova. Driven insane by rage, Sephiroth laid waste to Nibelheim, killing Cloud and Tifa's parents in the process despite Zack's attempt to stop him. But as Zack fell, Cloud took up his sword and stabbed Sephiroth, flinging his dying body into the Lifestream before collapsing. Captured by the sadistic Hojo of Shinra's science division, Cloud and Zack were injected with Jenova's cells and tortured for years before escaping, only for Zack to be fatally wounded and die in Cloud's arms.

Broken by the continual trauma and the Mako poisoning of Hojo's experiments, Cloud's mind would fragment, being found by Tifa as an amnesiac. In an attempt to rebuild his mind, his memories were overwritten by Zack's accounts of his adventures; now Cloud was the First Class SOLDIER who worked alongside Sephiroth, but would only put those skills to use as a mercenary, fighting for no cause or purpose. That is until AVALANCHE requested his services.

With Shinra extracting energy from the planet faster than it couldbe replenished, AVALANCHE was desperate to prevent an ecological collapse, so paid Cloud to assist them in their terrorist acts. After the success of bombing a Mako factory, Shinra collapsed part of the city of Midgar in retaliation, causing Cloud to fall into the slums and meet Aerith, a descendant of the mystical Cetra who once ruled the planet. Assisting Aerith in escaping Shinra's clutches, Cloud would discover that Sephiroth still lived, determined to destroy the world and ascend to godhood as Jenova aspired to. With Aerith and AVALANCHE with him, Cloud would venture to stop his mad schemes.

Crossing the world, they would find that Sephiroth intended to use the Black Materia to summon Meteor, which would crack open the planet and expose the Lifestream to Sephiroth's grasp. Manipulated into handing over the Black Materia and being forced to watch Sephiroth kill Aerith before his eyes, Cloud's identity crisis shattered his mind once again. This time though, with Tifa and the Lifestream's aid, Cloud would remember his true past, accepting the losses and resolving to stop Meteor once and for all. Pursuing Sephiroth to the planet's core and then into the Lifestream itself, Cloud would land the killing blow and end Sephiroth's evil for good.

Or so it seemed. Sephiroth's spirit remained active, slowly corrupting the Lifestream from within while his extension/servant Kadaj would work to resurrect his body. Cloud was forced to face his demons and fear of loss once again as Kadaj was transformed into Sephiroth himself, battling his sworn enemy once again. Guided by the hope of Zack and Aerith, Cloud regained his will to cherish all life, destroying Sephiroth's soul once and for all, leaving him in his memories, where he belonged. Generations later, the planet would be fully healed, Shinra's desolation of nature finally ended and Jenova's menace left behind in the past.

Revan

Revan had a mother and father, but where he was born is lost to time. Taken into the Jedi Order at a young age, Revan was taught by many masters and gained an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Whatever there was to be taught, Revan would master it, especially the controversial views of Master Kreia, as long as he had his best friend Alek with him.

But a scourge grew on the Outer Rim; called to a glorious crusade by Mandalore the Ultimate, the Mandalorian clans launched an all out assault on the Republic, desperate for worthy opponents. The Jedi Council, still wary from their losses against the Sith Lord Exar Kun and believing the true threat lay beyond the Mandalorians, refused to intervene, to the ire of many. Unwilling to let the continual slaughter go unabated, Revan and Alek defied the Council's wishes, leading hundreds of like-minded Jedi into the war. Matching the Mandalorian savagery with savagery of their own, Revan, Malak, and new rising star Meetra Surik rose through the ranks of the Republic army to become generals, Revan himself single-handedly turned the tide of the war, soon having Mandalore on the run to Malachor V.

For Malachor V was a Sith planet, archenemy of the Jedi, a planet that Revan had long been gaining knowledge and power from. The horrors of war had made Revan and Malak despise weakness and mercy, which further pulled them into the Sith teachings. At the final battle on Malachor V, Revan slew Mandalore the Ultimate in combat, destroyed the Mandalorian fleet with the Mass Shadow Generator, and took his fleet into the Unknown Regions of the galaxy, having finally located the true threat that hadled the Mandalorians to war; the True Sith of Emperor Vitiate.

Upon meeting the Emperor, Revan and Malak fully fell to the Dark Side, taking the titles Darth Revan and Darth Malak, finding the ancient Star Forge superweapon and using it to begin a new war against the galaxy, only Revan was fighting to unite the galaxy against Vitiate's seeming omnipotence. But as a Jedi strike team, led by the prodigy Bastila Shan, desperately attempted to apprehend Revan aboard his flagship, he was betrayed by Malak and fired upon, losing his memories in the attack.

Revan was given a new identity by the Jedi Council, a soldier loyal to the Republic, and with Bastila and a growing group of allies, Revan would retrace his steps to locating the Star Forge. Re-encountering Malak, his memory would be restored, but Revan would remain loyal to the Light Side even when Bastila, whom he had fallenin love with, fell to darkness. Redeeming Bastila, killing Malak, and destroying the Star Forge, Revan would be hailed as the Prodigal Knight, marrying Bastila.

But Vitiate's menace was still a danger. Leaving Bastila and their unborn child, Revan would travel to face Vitiate a second time alongside Meetra, only for Meetra to be killed and Revan to be imprisoned for 300 years by the Emperor, fighting a constant war of wills with his captor. Upon being released, his fragmented mind and soul split, his dark half attempting to destroy the Emperor by any means necessary, even genocide. Finally put down by a combined Republic and Imperial strike team, Revan's split self would reunite and find peace, returning one final time to assist the Outlander in permanently destroying Vitiate's spirit, completing the mission he had spent lifetimes fighting for and finally finding peace in the Force.

Revan

Mask

A Mandalorian battle mask taken from a dissenter attempting to stop the genocide of the Cathar race, Revan's mask is his real face as far as the galaxy is concerned. Certain Sith Masks can prevent Force users from sensing when one is using Force powers, shield one from mental attacks, and shut out sensory distractions.

Melee Weapons

  • Vibroblades and Vibroswords: Using ultrasonic vibrations to increase cutting effectiveness, vibroblades could be fitted with cortosis-weave, allowing it to parry lightsaber and energy sword blows.
  • Long sword: Simple, but still effective in the right hands.
  • Short Sword: Used to parry incoming melee attacks, and was often used while wielding another weapon, as the former did not unbalance the user when held in the off-hand.
  • Double-bladed Sword: Capable of dealing more damage than a regular sword but was less precise and more difficult to control.
  • Silver Lined Sword: Becomes white-hot once it is equipped.
  • Krath War Blade: Tempered with the power of the Force
  • Wookiee Warblade: Meant to be wielded in constant motion, allowing for deadly strikes. Though initially they might seem cumbersome, Wookiee Warblades are actually very efficient in design.

  • Yusanis’s Band: The blade used by Yusanis in his failed attempt to kill Darth Revan

  • Vibro Double-blade: Like the single bladed variant, the cortosis-weave allowed it to protect it against lightsaber damage. Also like other double bladed weapons, it was less precise and harder to control, but inflicted more damage.

  • Stun Batons: A common non-lethal short range melee weapon that immobilized organic targets with a powerful electric shock.

  • Gamorrean Battleaxe: Heavy, unsubtle, and very damaging
  • Quarterstaff: A smooth staff made of wood, plasteel, or light alloys
  • Gaffi Sticks: The traditional melee weapon of the Tusken Raiders on Tatooine.
  • Naga Sadow’s Poison Blade: The blade of the Sith Lord Naga Sadow, twisted by his dark side energies, and imbued with poisonous properties

  • Ajunta Pall’s Blade: Held by the Dark Jedi even before he fell to the dark side, this may be one of the few truly personal items owned by Ajunta Pall, and remains as thoroughly corrupted as he.

Mines

  • Flash Mine: An explosive device designed to stun its target by using either a power cell or a capacitor as a discharge source.
  • Frag Mine: An explosive device designed to send a blast of shrapnel through any nearby enemies.
  • Gas Mine: Designed to release an exhaust of poisonous gas when triggered. Its effects could last for 30 seconds and reduce the effectiveness of entire enemy groups.
  • Plasma Mine: Designed to send short bursts of intense heat, in the form of volatile incendiary chemicals, through any nearby enemies.

Grenades

  • Concussion Grenade This type of grenade explodes in a concussive wave of force that disrupts the senses of both organic and inorganic targets in the area of effect.
  • Frag Grenade Fragmentation grenades are very basic. They explode when thrown, showering the enemy in shrapnel. It's not elegant, but it's definitely effective.
  • Adhesive Grenade These grenades cover the target area in a gooey bio-adhesive that traps anyone caught within the effect. It quickly degrades, allowing allies to soon pass unhindered.
  • CryoBan Grenade A CryoBan grenade releases a supercooled liquid that freezes on contact, causing intense pain and damage to victims caught in the effect.
  • Ion Grenade These grenades emit an extremely strong burst of energy devastating to any droids or personal shields caught in the effect.
  • Poison Grenade This grenade unleashes a blast of poison gas that affects the nervous system, lingering in the air to ensure that the effect is not escaped easily.
  • Sonic Grenade These grenades explode loudly, but the majority of their effect is delivered in disorienting frequencies the ear can barely perceive, even as it is damaged.
  • Plasma Grenade These grenades release a quick burst of an incendiary agent that ignites immediately, damaging all enemies within the area of effect.
  • Thermal Detonator This Republic device contains a baradium compound that produces a small fusion energy explosion of great force. Civilian possession of these items is outlawed almost everywhere.

Shields

  • Energy Shields: When equipped and activated, these items project an energy shield around the wearer. The small power source can burn out when repeatedly stressed, requiring replacement of the entire unit.
  • Echani Dueling Shield: Far more powerful than most forearm shields, when activated this unit absorbs some of the incoming energy to provide good protection without the need for bulky generators. The unit must still be replaced after repeated use, however.
  • Yusanis’ Dueling Shield: Yusanis sponsored many of the advances the Echani people are known for. Produced in his honor, these forearm shields are unmatched on the battlefield. The unit must be replaced when the maximum number of activations is depleted.
  • Sith Energy Shield: The Sith have made many improvements to personal forearm shielding, much to the dismay of the Jedi. Though efficient, the unit must be replaced often as it burns out when repeatedly activated.
  • Echani Shield: The Echani put much effort into developing a forearm shield that, once activated, would allow a mercenary to close on a blaster-wielding enemy relatively unscathed. This unit is discarded once its energy cells are depleted.
  • Arkanian Energy Shield: Even 2000 years after the designs were pioneered, Arkanian technology remains desirable. When equipped and activated, this forearm shield protects against a variety of combat conditions, though it must be replaced often due to burnout.
  • Verpine Prototype Shield: Though manufactured by the Verpine, these forearm shields are based on highly modified Arkanian designs. They are must-have items for the professional soldier, though they have to be replaced when the maximum number of activations are expended.
  • Mandalorian Melee Shield: Mandalorians don't fear melee combat, but anything that absorbs physical damage brings them a step closer to victory, and these forearm shields are a favorite. The units are discarded once their maximum activations have been expended.
  • Mandalorian Power Shield: An improvement by the Mandalorians on their basic forearm shield, this variant proved decisive in several battles with the Republic. The units are discarded once their maximum number of activations have been expended

  • Breath Mask: Grants immunity to poison.

Level 1:

  • Cardio Package: This implant micromanages the cardiovascular system, effectively increasing the user's constitution (stamina) faster and further than hard work and exercise might. This boosts constitution (stamina) by +1.

  • Response Package: This implant boosts the regular energy impulses of the nervous system, sharpening the performance of dexterous (agility/reflexes) action. Inactive users may suffer the odd lingering twitch. This boosts dexterity (agility/reflexes) by +1

  • Memory Package: This implant stimulates the brain, effectively increasing the user's capacity for intelligent thought, all at a price cheaper than a trip to the libraries of Coruscant. This boosts intelligence by +1.

Level 2:

  • Retinal Combat Implant: Greatly increases visual acuity, allowing the user to better track enemy movement in combat. This boosts awareness (basically helps the user see hidden objects or enemies hidden by stealth) and grants immunity to critical hits.

  • Nerve Enhancement Implant: Regulates the nervous system, preventing loss of consciousness due to sudden impact or sensory overload. Grants immunity to Mind-Affecting attacks.

Level 3:

  • Bavakar Cardio Package: Stimulates cardiovascular performance well beyond the user's norm. Boosts constitution by +2.

  • Beemon Package: Usurps the body's natural reactions to stress and damage, allowing the user to withstand greater amounts of punishment and exertion than normally possible. Boosts constitution by +3.

  • Cardio Power System: This implant increases the cardio-vascular recovery rate and pain tolerance of the wearer, giving them almost supernatural stamina. Boosts constitution by +4.

  • Bio-Antidote Package: Maintains an ever-circulating stream of antitoxins in the user, increasing relevant antidotes for specific poisons introduced. Grants immunity to poison.

  • Cyber Reaction System: Supplants the nervous system, enhancing it artificially. It allows the impulses to travel faster and farther along the system, improving reaction time, while also increasing accuracy. Boosts dexterity by +3.

  • Gordulan Reaction System: This implant hyper-stimulates the nervous system of the wearer, significantly improving both reaction time and hand-eye coordination. Boosts dexterity by +4.

  • Navardan Regenerator: This implant gives incredible healing powers, allowing wounds and injuries to heal in mere seconds instead of days or weeks. Boosts regeneration by 2.

  • Sith Regenerator: Extensively used by Sith intelligence operatives, this implant stimulates cell replication in the user's body, allowing wounds to be healed quickly and easily. It is most frequently used on operatives operating behind enemy lines for extended periods, where medical treatment is not normally available. Boosts regeneration by 2.

  • Advanced Sensory Implant: By assisting the areas of the user's brain dedicated to sensory-interpretation, this implant greatly heightens the user's awareness of their surroundings, as well as spatial perception and analysis. Boosts awareness by +10 and dexterity by +2.

  • Advanced Bio-Stabilizer Implant: This detailed micro-computer analyzes the contents of the user's circulatory system, as well as surges and drops in nerve transmission rates. It attempts to stabilize the user's system, and remove undesirable elements from it. Grants immunity to Mind-Affecting/mind affection and poison.

  • Advanced Combat Implant: Contains weapons specification, and advanced usage techniques for all known weaponry in the Republic and associated territories. Grants bonus feat to weapon proficiency, weapon focus, and weapon specialization to the following weapon types: Blaster Pistol, Blaster Rifle, Heavy Weapons, and Melee Weapons.

  • Advanced Alacrity Implant: Allows vastly improved reaction times and coordination over unmodified individuals. The success of this implant, though not in wide distribution due to its cost, has prompted some at rival Bavakar Medical Research Labs to call for it to be banned. Boosts dexterity by +5.

He has taken down Turks like Reno and Rudeelite spies and assassins of Shinra, who are superior to regular SOLDIERs who are master swordsmen and combat experts, themselves superior to Elite Riot Troopers specializing in close combat1st Class SOLDIERS are the greatest of all SOLDIERS, above 2nd and 3rd Class SOLDIERsOther first class SOLDIERs like Zack Fair defeated Hojo's experimental soldiersincluding one based on his own combat data, and defeated 1,000 Shinra infantrymen single-handedlyCloud matched Weiss, a Tsviet elite SOLDIER with exceptional combat abilities and gretly enhanced strength, in a simulatorand the Tsviet Rosso. Even early on Cloud's party defeated a riot squad specifically chosen based on the party's combat data and fought in Scotch and Kotch's mixed-combat Colisseum.

Tifa herself struggled against Loz, a remnant of Sephiroth, once he got serious, yet Cloud took on Kadaj, another remnant, gained the advantage, and then took on Sephiroth himself and won. Sephiroth, even before falling into the Lifestream, was considered the greatest warrior on the planetthe only one capable of wielding the Masamune swordusing it with unparalleled accuracy and always dealing critical hits; in fact, he makes a point of defeating enemies in one blowSephiroth was the most famous of all SOLDIERs, in a league of his own compared to other 1st class SOLDIERS, once holding off two 1st class SOLDIERS without any effort, at most being forced to take the fight seriouslyIn fact, despite his reputation, Sephiroth's skill was said to far exceed any tale told about him.

Revan

Combat Skill

Jedi are the greatest swordfighters in the galaxy, and the KOTOR era is stated to be their prime, even above the Prequel eras due to the abundance of Force wielding enemies. Lucien Draay, who was beneath Bastila Shancould give Darth Vader and Darth Bane a good fight before going down, and Revan before his prime was comparable to Prequel top tiers in combat. Bastila herself, whom Revan defeated, was compared to Count Dooku and Obi-Wan Kenobi, both of whom matched the cyborg General Grievous. Grievous had mastered all styles of lightsaber combat, could adapt to any lightsaber form (including Vaapaad, which requires high level mastery of multiple/all forms), attack with multiple styles simultaneously, and best multiple droid Magnaguards, each of which could instantly adapt to any combat situation and were trained in all styles of lightsaber combat to the point of being compared to Darth Maul. Grievous could also demolish Durge, a two thousand year old bounty hunter who had specifically learned the skills of many Jedi and could easily dispatch Clone Troopers trained in various weapons and fighting styles.

However, Mandalore the Preserver believed only one Jedi had ever shown herself comparable to Revan; Meetra Surik, the Jedi ExileMeetra could not only switch between all lightsaber styles on a whim, but instantly master and counter any fighting style and Force power after only seeing it once, even Kreia's Kinetic Combat. Meetra defeated the Sith Assassin Visas Marr without a lightsaber, and bested Jedi Master Atris drawing on the teachings and power of hundreds of Sith holocrons. Atris defeated Brianna, who had defeated five Echani precognition users simultaneously and was superior to Kavar, despite Kavar being a Guardian who specialized in lightsaber combat with skill renowned amongst the Mandalorians. Meetra, after besting Darth Traya despite the difference in power, Traya having easily bested Meetra's entire party single-handedly, went on to best the Imperial Guard, who intimidated the Dark Council with their skill; Palpatine's Royal Guard, despite being trained to master every fighting style and weapon in the galaxy, were no match for regular Jedi in comparison.

Chris Avellone noted that Revan would "kick the Exile's ass" in a duel. He learnt and mastered everything the Jedi could possibly teach him, from all seven classic forms of lightsaber combat to more melee styles than most people knew existedlearning how to handle multiple weapons. Revan learnt the combat style of and slaughtered Mandalorians by the thousands, defeating Mandalore the Ultimate in single combat; Mandalore the Ultimate one-shot Alek, (known as Squint to some), a notable swordmasterpossessed a cortosis axe that could depower lightsabers, and was considered the greatest Mandalore in historyEven normal Mandalorians are the greatest elite fighters in the galaxy who know all areas of combat and train themselves against the monsters of Dxun. A single Mandalorian is comparable to a small army, honed from birthyet would only accept a truly exceptional warrior as their leader. Being the greatest warrior in the galaxyall Mandalores are superior to Great Hunt Champions like Scree; Scree defeated Jedi Master Kellian Jarrowho defeated 100 Mandalorian Commandos single-handedly, as well as Jicoln Cadera, who other Champions, being among the galaxy's greatest warriors, had failed to kill.

As Darth Revan, he defeated Yusanis, greatest of all Echani fighters, overcoming his lightsaber disrupting cortosis blade and armour. Echani can read an opponent's moves, predicting fights several minutes in advance, even visualizing the entire path of battles and warsHe personally trained hundreds of Sith Assassins and a Hunter Killer droid, both capable of battling and incapacitating Jedi and Sith without needing the ForceHe mastered the knowledge of Tulak Hordwhose skill was renowned in an era with far greater masters of combat than Revan's. While regaining his lost skill, Revan bested multiple Tarisian gladiators wielding numerous exotic weapons, killed Calo Nordwho had learnt the methods of dozens of bounty hunters sent to kill himcut down hundreds of Sith acolytes while hampered by an extreme Dark Side Nexus (right after killing two Force-resistant Terentateks and defeating the Sith Instructors Uthar Wynn and Yuthura Ban), stomped the fallen Bastila Shan on another Dark Side nexus after fighting through an army of Jedi-killing war droids and dark Jedi for over an hour, and finally killed a constantly rejuvenated Darth Malak at the height of his power after fighting through another army of war droidsHe also possessed the Advanced Combat Implant, which held advanced usage techniques for all known weapons in the Republic.

His reputation was renowned even during the Cold War, compared to battlemaster Kao Cen DarachDuring his resurrection on the Foundry and Yavin, he fought against multiple Republic and Imperial prodigiesoverpowering Council Masters with second-to-none fighting skills and Mandalorian veterans.  Darth Nox defeated Khem Val, who had killed over 500 Jedi without using the Force. Other combatants included the Emperor's Wrath, who defeated several assassin droids specifically tailored to exploit his weaknesses and strategies, the Hero of Tython who overcame Lord Scourge's centuries of experience killing Sith and his ability to instantly identify one's flaws, and the leader of Havoc Squad, the most elite of all Republic soldiers that are more skilled than an entire platoon and can defeat Sith without the Force. They were also superior to Gnost-Dural, whose Soresu could hold off multiple attackers using several different lightsaber styles, given that they overcame Dread Master Calphayus' ability to see multiple potential futures at once.

Leadership, Strategy, and Tactics

Malak deemed his intelligence more effective than Bastila's Battle Meditationwhich could destroy the morale of entire armiesHe knew multiple alien languages, and trained many Sith assassins to kill and corrupt Jedi without the Force. Chris Avellone noted his intelligence was not forced based, able to see and deduce the machinations of other powers without being easily deceived. He fought without Sith abandon; deliberately keeping the Republic's infrastructure intact, and recognized that the Star Forge could not be used indefinitely without risking further damage to the ForceHis charisma could get people to reveal personal secrets after one conversation, similar to how Meetra could influence her companions towards good or evil through her bond with them. He was a master of psychological warfare, eroding the spirit of Jedi to weaken their connection to the Force and break their allegiance to the Jedi Order

The Lifestream

Strength of Will
With the true form of a being being its soul, one's ability is based on their state of mind; their passions, their regrets, their will to overcome and achieve in the face of adversity. To use Spiritual Energy is to tap into one's heart and soul. Naturally, the strength of said soul directly impacts one's ability to use magic. While everyone is blessed with fragments of the Lifestream from birth, only a select few have a force of will capable of truly harnessing its power.

Generally, strong memories and emotions (particularly rage) can greatly empower a Spirit, the user's weaponry, and their attackspushing its power well past its normal limits to break the laws of physics and do the impossible. Fury boosts one's power, while sadness reduces damage takenCloud went from being weaker than he had been at the end of the game to being strong enough to directly contend with Sephiroth reborn after regaining his will to fight. Strength of will can also overcome effects like Mako poisoning and allow one to survive having one's entire body dissolved into the Lifestream, even when leaving the body to astrally project. One can also overcome crushing pain and pressureHarnessing this energy generates a brief aura of light around the usermore powerful beings like Zirconaide capable of exerting enormous physical pressure. It can even absorb small amounts of Spiritual energy from enemies upon defeating them.

"Darth Revan and Darth Malak (Star Wars: KOTOR)" by Rezeren

Upon his release, he held his own against a strike team of the Empire's most skilled warriors despite having his soul fragmenting inside him and having just recovered from 300 years of torture. After his initial death and resurrection, he fought a marathon battle against the combined forces of the Republic and Empire, having just had the energy of a life-draining nuclear bomb detonate inside him, and only lost due to his Light Side half's intervention.

The Force

Before creation had come into being, inside the primal unduality of existence, The Father of Lights sung forth the first notes of a song. And from the source of light and life blossomed the Force; permeating all of existence as time began its desultory flow. The Force is everything, and everything is the Force. Within its metaphysical, natural and spiritual nature, duality does not exist. All is one and one is all. “Light and Dark” are no more than nomenclature: words that describe how little one understands. The Force is above those words, and concepts. It is infinite. Existing as a thing both within and without, limitless and sublime, and wholly beyond comprehension. All aspects of the universe are contained with the Force. It may be a non sentient energy field, the sum of all creation. It may be an eternal entity, knowing and unknowable. It may be both of these and more; it may be something else entirely.

All interpretations of The Force that are made are fundamentally and ultimately distinct from The Force, as beings upon interpreting the Force create separate conceptions from the Force that are not the Force, which includes every single conception of it, including thought itself. Call it the Universe, or the Force, or Existence: those are only words. They are half truths. They are lies. The truth is always greater than the words we use to describe it. Throughout time, it's been conceptualized by many names (e.g. the Unity, the Way, the Power, Magic), but none reflect its true nature, which defies explanation.

The Force exists within a higher plane, transcending space and time; flowing through the cause and effect of the past, present, and future attributed to infinite possibilities. The Force also extends throughout Hyperspace, and Otherspace. When Barriss Offee used the Bota to achieve a form of Oneness with the Force, she was capable of sensing beyond three, even four dimensions, and understood that the universe was of an entire piece, each part connected to all the others, webbed together by vibrating strands of the Force that stretched through dimensions utterly beyond the ken of her senses.

Like most forms of energy, the Force can be manipulated, and it is the knowledge and predisposition to do so that empowers the Jedi Knights and the Sith. This is due to the fact the Force is accessible to all living beings through the presence of midi-chlorians in their cells. Midi-chlorians are microscopic life forms that reside inside living cells. The more midi-chlorians inhabiting a being's cells, the more the being is able to connect to the Force. These midi-chlorians also appear to possess a single unified consciousness linked through the Pneuma and can be influenced by the host’s mental state

A common misconception held is that midi-chlorians were Force-carrying particles, when in fact they functioned more as translators, interlocutors of the will of the Force. Force-Energy is simply required for life and midi-chlorians are its biological vector. Some species are more attuned to the Force than others. To control the Force, one must be mindful of its three basic techniques: Control (the manipulation of one's internal Force strength), Sense (detection of the Force in the external world), and Alter (manipulation of matter through the Force).

The Force had long ago been interpreted into several unique aspects: the Cosmic Force, the Living Force, the Unifying Force, the Physical Force, the Dark, and much more.

“The Cosmic Force”, otherwise known as the Pneuma, is the Jedi's understanding of the Supreme Maker (e.g. the Father of Lights). The Pneuma is the set of all conceptualizations in any mortal mind; connected to a collective unconscious. The Cosmic Force is a "unifying gestalt", a metaphysical vision of the entire galactic whirlpool and the threads that comprise all of reality. Midi-chlorians, which were birthed from the Wellspring of Life, are the foundation of what connects the Living Force and the Cosmic Force. All energy from the Living Force passes into the Cosmic Force. This includes not only the energy of the Living Force at a particular point in time, but the energy of all things that have ever lived in the galaxy. It transcends normal conceptions of time and space; connecting to what is, what was, and what has yet to come. It is identified as fate, for beings with limited understanding of the Cosmic Force.

“The Living Force”, otherwise known as the Anima, is generated by living beings. It allows Jedi to connect with the plants and animals that inhabit the world around them. It is the energy of all things that have ever lived. The Living Force is raw and close at hand. It is the life energy tingling around them as they pass among plants and animals in a walk through the jungle. When beings die, it is sensed through the Living Force. All tangible Force abilities are techniques from the Living Force. Jedi who believe in the tenets of the Living Force rely on their instincts and become attuned to the living things around them. They are mindful of the future and what might result from their current actions, but they remain focused on the present instead of allowing anxieties about the past and future to cloud their awareness. Once a living being dies, all is removed. Life passes through the Living Force into the Cosmic Force and becomes one with it. One powers the other. One is renewed by the other. Abilities of the Body are drawn from the Living Force, emanating from the very cells and affecting the physical structures of others. Through the Living Force, certain Jedi are able to retain their identities after death, manifesting as Force spirits while still becoming one with the Force

“The Unifying Force”, otherwise known as the Aperion, is a vast cosmic power. It is the stars and galaxies, the rippling surface of space and time. It is this voice that whispers destiny, allowing a Jedi to walk in the past or see the future, leaving their body behind. It teaches that the Force is a single power and has neither a light side nor a dark side. The Unifying Force has no sides and does not take sides, treating all living creatures equally. This view has been supported by the likes of Vergere and Emperor Palpatine. Those who follow the Unifying Force tend to keep their eyes on the future and possibilities, leading them to act in ways to fulfill a destiny instead of focusing on the here and now, like those who follow the Living Force. Through this, a Jedi can sense the past and the future. Thus, precognition is an aspect of the Unifying Force. Jedi who studied the Unifying Force understood that the future was constantly in motion, but sought to understand this motion and develop a sense of their place within it. Abilities of the Mind are also drawn from the Unifying Force. These operate on a different plane than the physical--they exist in the realm of thought and memory, allowing to induce their targets with visions of infinity. The Unifying Force dictates all physical phenomena; all of matter, all of gravity, all of electromagnetism, encompassing all of space and time, and much more.

“The Physical Force” is the facet of the Force that allows a Jedi to manipulate objects around them. Abilities from the Alter techniques are drawn from the Physical Force. It was possible to alter the Physical Force, merging items and objects into something entirely new. This facet complemented the Living Force and the Unifying Force. Jedi would learn to channel the power of the Physical Force for a more effective defense. Calling on this power is akin to calling on the power of the galaxy or the universe itself.

“The Dark” is oblivion; absolute nothingness. It is final, perpetual, ineluctable nonexistence. An abstraction that embodies the eventual end of all things. When compared to the Dark, all of existence is an illusion.

Force of Will

In Lucas' own words, "reality is what you believe", the will being connected to the  entire collective unconscious or Pnuema that empowers mind tricksKreia believed that the true war is one of belief and that nothing is impossible with the Force. The Force is used to subvert probability and warp reality, providing Revan supernaturally good luck. A Force user draws on his own willpower to resist hostile Force powers, as strength of will is the key to gaining power in the Force, especially for the Dark Side. The Force itself is perception, the strength of life's perception of the universe, and "Decision is reality". Will extends to powers like Battle Meditation and allow Jedi to overcome handicaps like neural disruptors and movement impairmentKreia stated "raw strength is nothing compared to the power of one's will", and one's will can not only control their strength, but draw upon the strength of others.

Force Sense

The enhancement the Force provides goes beyond mere strength and speed. While the specifics are unclear, Kreia noted that immense strength in the Force changes one's perception of the universe. One can magnify their senses to see infra-red, normally invisible black holes and enemies, Force auras, Force spirits, and enhance one's eyesight to exceed the range of macrobinoculars and see in the dark across starships. And when one cannot see, they can still detect, whether across entire fleets, the entire galaxy, or entirely separate dimensions like Hyperspace or the mental plane. Jedi can sense dark motions in the Force itself, the strength of the Force in people or locations, the presence of lifeRevan was able to see the massacre on Cathar occurring entire star systems away, and detect Vitiate's presence guiding the Mandalorian Wars, who could hide armies from the entire Jedi Council.

Force Healing

Force Concealment/Stealth

To conceal the Force within you is to hide one's power and allegiance. Revan first used this to conceal the dark side power growing within him from fellow general Meetra Surik during the Mandalorian Wars, and during his quest to infiltrate the Dreshdae Academy he hid his light side aura from hundreds of Sith acolytes and instructors. He also trained numerous Sith assassins to "hide their minds", which prevented Jedi from knowing they were there.

Force Camoflauge

Tutaminis/Drain Energy

Drain Life/Death Field

Drain Force
Rather than draining life, Revan can drain the Force energies of others, severing the connections between life and the Force, feeding on the death it produces and strengthening his own abilities. Revan taught this ability to numerous Sith Assassins to counter Jedi during the Jedi Civil War, and used it to feed on the power of Malachor V; the more powerful the Jedi target, the more powerful the assassins would become. Taken to its extreme, this ability can life-wipe planets.

Wounds in the Force
"meetra Malachor" by Faietiya
Enough death and destruction can rend the very fabric of the Force, creating Wounds that either corrupt or annihilate life itself, feeding on death and destruction and sending echoes through the Force on a galactic scale. Through such Wounds, one can feed on the energy of others through the bond shared between them, gaining strength while simultaneously empowering or weakening the other. Wounds are also seemingly immune to certain Force powers like Force Drain. Large scale wounds could potentially be used to deafen all life to the Force, or kill it entirely . Revan knew how to both create and utilize these wounds, as did his master Kreia.

Telepathy
Force users can sense the emotions of othersRevan contacted Tari Darkspanner from across the galaxy despite having no prior relations to her, and extended his senses across the galaxy to locate Meetra Surik before her return to the Republic.

Affect Mind
To target the mind is to wipe away memories and destroy your very identity. Affect Mind can manipulate one's senses, erase your memory and replace it with a false one, or sap the will from your opponentsRevan used his influence as leader to sway entire armies to his cause, even to betray their former leaders, and later used the dark energies of Malachor V to influence the Mandalorians, Jedi, and Republic armies all at once. His power was even able to affect two guards despite being full of Force suppressant drugs, subtly affect Vitiateand put people to sleepRevan is also talented in bypassing resistances. He has mind-tricked Hutts, who are naturally resistant to such attacks, and affected one thousand Rakatan warriors who were said to be immune to the Force, draining their knowledge. He can use the environment to bolster this ability too, wielding the power of Malachor V to lure the Mandalorians to a planet they considered taboo for a final battle and trap.

Even average Jedi have enough ability to cloud the minds of entire crowds of people. Revan's will exceeded the power of Exar Kun, who dominated thousands of senators at once and blindsided every scanning technician across a city of 310 million people. He surpassed Bastila Shan's Battle Meditation which could influence armies across star systems through force of will alone and the will of the Star Forge, a dark side nexus. He should be comparable, if not superior, to Darth Plagueis and Cronal, who could enter every sentient in the galaxy, of which there are at least quintillions. He also scales above Jedi like Obi-Wan Kenobi, who resisted a Force nexus that affected the fabric of Hyperspace itself, and Sith like Lord Odion, who threatened to unleash a mental shockwave across the entire universe.

Beast Control

Force Corruption

Force Imbue
By charging an object with Force energy, Revan can greatly increase the strength, power output, and durability of said object, such as allowing wooden staffs to take hits from lightsabers or allowing lightsabers to break lightsaber resistant Beskar. Revan used this power on HK-47, empowering him to give a fierce fight to a strike team composed of the Republic and Empire's best warriors.

Ignore Pain/Crucitorn

Force Stun/Stasis

Force Scream

Force Suppression/Breach

Inferno
One of the many rituals Darth Bane uncovered in Revan's holocron. By gathering multiple Dark Side practitioners and pooling their power, the user could unleash a firestorm capable of razing a planet's surface. While primarily a Dark Side technique, a similar event occurred when the Jedi Order combined their power to seal Exar Kun within his temple on Yavin IV, causing a planetwide firestorm.

Thought Bomb

The most dangerous of Revan's rituals that he acquired from studying the Ritual of Nathema. While this ritual required multiple participants and careful preparation, it has been noted that such complex rituals are not necessarily needed to produce the same effect, and Revan was capable of re-enacting a planet draining ritual without aid on Yavin IV.

Non-Physical Interaction

To interact with the world is to interact with Living Force energies, which also make up the composition of spirits. Sith have imprisoned the souls of Jedi within crystals  By channelling enough power, it is possible for one to utterly eradicate spiritual entities, such as when Exar Kun destroyed the spirit of Freedon Nadd, despite the fact that Dark Side spirits have resisted their identity being dissolved indefinitely while within the realm of Chaos (Star Wars Hell). Revan showcased this ability when he encountered Ajunta Pall's spirit on Korriban, being able to destroy it in one timeline

Sith Sorcery

Alter Environment
A Force user can affect the environment through direct action or their mere presence. Revan created a massive rainstorm with lightning strikes and earthquakes on Yavin IV. Other users can generate blizzards, storms, tsunami waves and tornadoes.

Force Aberrations

Trail of Agony

Teleportation

By rending space-time through the Unifying Force, Revan can teleport across battlefields or cross entire star systems as he did when escaping the Foundry. It is possible this extends to crossing dimensions: Revan and other Sith have pulled their spirits (and in Revan's case, possibly his body) back to Realspace from the Netherworld of the Force, an entirely separate plane of existence, the Infinite Empire knew of a way to tear a hole in reality open to the Spirit World, and Cronal once potentially teleported himself from Hyperspace to Otherspace.

Revan's Fury

Force Bond

Some padawans can sense their Masters from light years away Allowing yourself to "be a human being", allows a Force user to connect to all aspects of the world around them, seeing through its perceptions and drawing on its strength. These bonds can be drawn on to feed on another's strength, influence their mind, or force them to feel your pain as their own. Luke Skywalker's Force Bond with Jysanna allowed her to draw knowledge from him, instantly learning his language.

Balance of the Force

After half a lifetime of struggle between the Light and Dark, Revan was able to balance on the knife edge between them and use both simultaneously, a feat considered suicidal madness by most Jedi and Sith due to it being considered only a practice of the Celestials. By opening himself to both sides, Revan is capable of releasing the Force in its purest form, bypassing resistance to the Force, increasing his Force regeneration rate, and reducing internal and elemental damage takenThis is similar in nature to Force Oneness, where the user becomes a direct conduit for the Force's full power, and both Jacen Solo and Luke Skywalker found that understanding the non-duality of the Force was an integral part of achieving OnenessRevan himself was a Force Nexus that allowed non-Force sensitives to feel the Force in his presence.

It is a stretch to say Revan can achieve full golden glow Oneness whenever he wants, but multiple Jedi have achieved a comparable state simply by drawing the Force into themselves when pushed past their limit, achieving a similar glow and power increase. Besides this, Jacen admitted that he was rediscovering the ability of Force Oneness that the old masters had found millennia ago, the same masters that Revan was only one generation removed from

The Summons
The Summons are drawn from Summon Materia, allowing Cloud and other Materia users to, well, summon powerful monsters to fight for them, unleashing devastating attacks and disappearing just as quickly, for they transcend physical matter. These monsters are not easily tamed, requiring the user to be stronger than said Summon and capable of defeating them in combat.

To attack their target, each Summon creates a separate pocket dimension and pulls the target into them before destroying the dimension just as quickly. These attacks are capable of flipping planets, shattering moons, or nuking galaxy clusters. They additionally can bypass defensive barriers and Reflect, which normally sends an attack back at the original caster. By the end of the game, Cloud could summon all these creatures at any time.

An advanced hunter-killer droid with a gleeful sadism to match his skill, HK-47 was built in response to the mass slaughter of Malachor V, Revan deeming such methods no longer useful. Upon his return and resurrection, Revan imbued HK-47 with his own Force energy, allowing him to battle high level Jedi and Sith directly.

Weaknesses

Cloud

While Cloud is certainly powerful, his mental state has frequently been a weak spot, constantly suffering from self-doubt and guilt over his traumatic past. While he has overcome his grief since then, should one induce doubt through manipulation, his strength and speed will greatly reduce. Also, many of his immunities come from his armour and items rather than his natural endowment, so damaging or removing these items will leave Cloud without many of his most useful options.

Revan

Though Revan is undoubtedly a genius in combat, he has been blindsided in the past by both Malak and Scourge when distracted by another opponent. Additionally, the Force, while infinite, cannot be used indefinitely without tiring Revan out, even potentially killing him. Also, one’s strength in the Force is tied to their emotional state, so becoming mentally unbalanced will greatly weaken his Force connection.

Scaling

Cloud Strife

Zack Fair

Zack was defeated by a Sephiroth that hadn't yet absorbed the Lifestream's power, so Revan defeating Sephiroth and Safer Sephiroth proves he has long surpassed Zack. Cloud also fought alongside an alternate Zack in his battle with Sephiroth, suggesting a parity in combat.

AVALANCHE
Cloud matched the Remnants of Sephiroth even while suffering from Geostigma, whom Tifa could not defeat once they got serious. Given that he not only delivered the final blow to Sephiroth in the game, but that Vincent believed only Cloud could destroy Sephiroth upon his rebirth, Cloud should scale above the other members of Avalanche.

Summons

The WEAPONs

Sephiroth
"Shall I give you despair?"
The party working together was able to defeat Safer Sephiroth at the climax of the game. In their Rematch, Sephiroth had been gathering his power for his rebirth, yet Cloud was able to defeat him, Sephiroth himself being impressed by Cloud's new power. Vincent believed Cloud was the only one who could match Sephiroth's power.

Pre-Lifestream:

Gilgamesh and Final Fantasy V
Cloud and the party were able to defeat Gilgamesh and use him as a Summon, making it pretty simple to compare the two. While we don't know what stage in Gilgamesh's timeline this occurs in comparison to the other Final Fantasy Games, Bartz is referenced as Gilgamesh's nemesis, so this at least takes place after the events of Final Fantasy V, meaning we should be able to compare Cloud to the feats performed in that game.
Final Fantasy X and X-2 (Debatable)
Final Fantasy X includes an easter egg of a boy named Shinra wanting to tap into the energy of the planet, implying that he will later create the Shinra company and that Final Fantasy VII is set in the future of the same world. Given that both VII and X were both written by Kazushige Nojima, who made this reference intentionally, it is possible to scale the feats performed to Cloud.
Other Final Fantasy Games (Debatable)

Though up for debate as to where Cloud's encounter with Gilgamesh occurs in the latter's timeline, Gilgamesh has found himself in several other Final Fantasy games after Exdeath banished him and faced off against the various parties. He does end up losing to the parties, but he does present a notable threat, so Cloud can at least be scaled to the low to mid end feats scattered throughout, including the Summons of the parties. It's dubious how far Gilgamesh, and therefore Cloud, matches up to endgame level threats, so feats like Lightning sustaining Valhalla or slaying the creator deity won't be included.

Revan

Meetra Surik, the Jedi Exile

Revan's second-in-command and second closest friend. Scourge claimed Revan and Meetra were the Jedi's greatest heroes, Kreia believed Meetra to be of the same caliber as Revan in aptitude, and Chris Avellone stated that Revan would "kick the Exile's ass" in a fight, making it pretty straightforward to compare the two.

Darth Nihilus
"Purge" by Aeonsend

Even after defeating all of the Sith Triumvirate, Meetra Surik still considered Revan's command of the Force (during the Mandalorian Wars) to be greater than anyone she had ever met, despite the fact that Revan was hiding his dark side power. Further, Nihilus' peak only approached the Ancient Siths', while Revan was considered far superior to Exar Kun, who had long since surpassed them.

The Star Forge

"Kylo Ren discovers the Star Forge" by Marc C

Both Revan and Malak overcame the power of the Forge with their will, something even the combined Exiles couldn't do. Redeemed Revan defeated Malak when he was channelling "the full power of the Star Forge", before going on to face a more powerful enemy in Vitiate, so he should scale above the Forge's apex.

Champions of The Old Republic
"SWTOR" by killersquirrelz

From Cipher Nine to the Hero of Tython, the Republic and Sith both trained some of the greatest warriors and agents the galaxy had ever seen. And all of them were required to put Revan down during the final battle on Yavin IV.

Exar Kun

Revan's predecessor, having been defeated roughly the same time Revan was born. The remake trailer states Darth Revan was the greatest Sith in generations, which puts him above Kun's power, and Revan defeated Malak amped by the Star Forge, which provided him power far superior to Kun.

Vitiate

Revan's ultimate enemy. While Revan did lose his battle with Vitiate, this was partly due to Scourge's sudden betrayal, that same Scourge having seen several possible futures where Revan killed Vitiate in battle, and considering Revan later became so powerful he could take on the Hero of Tython, who had defeated a Vitiate who had grown far more powerful, he can scale to Vitiate to at least a degree.

Darth Sidious
Considering Exar Kun was noted be on par with Dark Empire Sidious, and Revan defeated Darth Malak while he commanded the Star Forge that exceeded Kun's power, Revan could scale to Sidious. If you don't buy this scaling, Vitiate and Sidious both possess multiple accolades of being the most powerful Dark Side practitioner in all galactic history, so Revan somewhat scaling to Vitiate should allow him this comparison.

The Light Side of the Force
Being considered one of the most powerful Force practitioners in history, Revan should scale off of most, if not all, other feats of power performed by noteworthy Jedi.

The Dark Side of the Force
Ditto.

Anakin Skywalker
"The Balance" by ellaine

While Anakin's full potential is clearly beyond any other Star Wars character, Revan is directly compared to Anakin in terms of power and nature by official game guides. Like Anakin, he is stated to be the "Heart" or embodiment of the Force, and both took on a Sith Emperor that was considered an avatar of the Dark Side and the most powerful Sith in all history. Thus it is reasonable to scale Revan to at least a portion of Anakin's power.
Luke Skywalker
"Star Wars Dark Empire Tribute" by daninaimare

Exar Kun, who was inferior to Darth Malak, who was then bested by Revan, was considered by Luke to be the most powerful dark side entity he had ever faced even after facing Darth Sidious. If you don't buy this scaling (and DE Luke was nowhere near the end of his journey), Revan is directly stated to be comparable to the Skywalkers and is said to be the Chosen One of the Old Republic. He is inferior to Grandmaster Luke though.

The Ones (Debatable)
"Mortis Triptych" by roscidcup

The Architects of the Star Wars galaxy and the first beings. While the Celestials disappeared under mysterious circumstances, only three remaining to become the Mortis Gods, it was suggested that the Rakata were in some way responsible, whether by forcing them to flee or outright destroying them. Since all the Rakata's technology culminated in the Star Forge, and Revan defeated Malak despite the Star Forge's empowerment, it is theoretically possible to scale Revan to this tier of power. Additionally, since Revan was capable of unleashing the Force in its "purest form", which the Ones are meant to embody, it is again possible that Revan can at least draw from a realm on the Celestial's level of power. Keep in mind though that Revan obviously is not equal to a Celestial.

Before the Verdict

Are the Force and the Lifestream comparable?

Yes. Both are fonts of spiritual and metaphysical energy that empower users to perform magic and make up their souls/essence. Both transcend life and death and space and time. Both can be drained or wounded, and both a negative counterpart in the Negative Lifestream and the Anti-Force. Both reclaim souls and dissolve them into their totalites upon death, life feeding death feeding life and so on.

Cloud

Final Fantasy VII Cosmology

Summons
In order for Summons to harm their target without laying waste to the environment around them, they transport them into their own unique space, literally creating a separate pocket dimension in which to act. While the remakes so far show these spaces as large enough to hold their own planets and moons, the original game presents the Knights of the Round and Sephiroth's Supernova both containing entire nebulae and galaxies.

Infinite Timelines and Universes
Defeating the Whisper Harbinger in Remake destroyed the course of destiny of the Lifestream, splintering the original timeline with countless alternatives, some lasting only briefly, some longer. including one where Zack Fair is still alive. Sephiroth's proposed Union would unite all these timelines into one using Meteor, extending his reach into infinityWhat appears to be Sephiroth's domain throughout the first two of the Remake trilogy, the Edge is where Sephiroth shows Cloud the Universes of Death and Creation, "the world beyond" the fate set out by the Whispers. The Black Materia is hidden between worlds too.

The Lifestream
The Lifestream governs infinite timelines and is the source of the Summons and their ability to create dimensions. It is beyond matter, up, down, left or right, and governs fate itself outside of time, life, and death. All rules of reality, life, and the afterlife find their origin and end within the Lifestream's currents.

The Wider Multiverse and the Void
The Final Fantasy worlds all exist within a shared multiverse, Gilgamesh having travelled across them after being banished to the Interdimensional Rift. He confirms there are infinite dimensions, with infinite worlds and higher dimensions being confined within singular games alone, themselves part of a larger multiverse. The multiverses come from the Void, the beginning of all things and the infinite darkness preceding creation. The Void throws the laws of the universe into disarray and can destroy all dimensions in existence, for it is beyond past, present, and future, eternal in nature.

The Power of the Black Materia

If Cloud and the party are capable of matching Summons that can create entire pocket dimensions which contain stars and galaxies, surely Sephiroth would not need the Black Materia to destroy Gaia. His supernova can destroy a solar system so why can't he just sent that power into Gaia? This seeming contradiction at first glance casts doubts on scaling Cloud anywhere above planet level.

Remember, the planet Gaia acts as a sort of shell for the Lifestream, the first layer of a much greater reality, as evidenced in the Remake by the Lifestream being able to create entirely separate timelines and universes without any difficulty. As a result, the Lifestream has several safeguards in place to prevent heavy damage to the planet, such as the Harbingers and the WEAPONs. Consequently, to destroy the planet itself requires far more power and special conditions than simply blowing up Earth through physical force would.

Also, Sephiroth did not summon the meteor to destroy Gaia in and on itself; the Black Materia summoning Meteor was designed to damage the essence of Gaia so badly that the Lifestream itself would be forced to emerge to repair the damage. Sephiroth then planned to siphon the exposed Lifestream's energy and absorb it, becoming a god. This is somewhat similar to his plans in the remake; he planned to collapse all timelines into the Union, creating a perfect world with him as its god. Godhood is what Sephiroth desires, and absorbing the Lifestream is how he can do so.

Does Cloud scale to the Lifestream?

Cloud was able to defeat Sephiroth in the core of the planet, who was preventing Aerith from summoning Holy to stop the Black Materia. He also defeated Sephiroth in Advent Children, who had been gathering his strength and had slowly been corrupting the Lifestream through the Negative Lifestream and Geostigma. If Sephiroth came close to threatening the Lifestream itself on two occasions, and Cloud beat him, does this mean Cloud scales to the Lifestream’s full potency in any way?

While impressive on paper, keep in mind the additional context for both; with Meteor, Sephiroth explicitly needed Meteor in order to damage the Planet enough to force the Lifestream to expose itself, hence why he went on such a journey to find the Black Materia to begin with and hadn’t already destroyed the Planet at the beginning of the game. Not to mention, the Planet itself was on its last legs of spiritual energy due to Shinra’s harvesting of Mako. With Sephiroth resisting Holy, he prevented Holy from activating, rather than holding back its physical power. Again, it is questionable to suggest that Sephiroth could shrug off the power of the Lifestream by himself and still require Meteor to absorb its power.

With Advent Children, Sephiroth had spent years corrupting the Lifestream from within through his Jenova Cells creating Geostigma, preventing souls from reaching the Lifestream and gathering their strength to him. His attack on the Lifestream was spiritual in nature, a virus, not a physical attack. It’s also worth noting that Aerith was able to quickly cure all the Geostigma infected children once Sephiroth was defeated, for Sephiroth at this stage had not yet grown strong enough to take over the Lifestream, only stating that he planned to do so in time, so it’s unreasonable to say Cloud directly scales.

Realspace

Hyperspace

Hyperspace is the universe from the point of view of a spaceship travelling faster than the speed of light. An endless, transfiniteextra-dimensionalhigher-dimensional realm of space-time, containing more than the four dimensions of Realspace and possibly possessing a multiverse of dimensions, it allows starships FTL travel and potentially infinite speedsenabling time travel on rare occasions. A starship moving through Hyperspace require special shielding, as exposure to Hyperspace energies such as hypermatter can cause atoms to "lose their reality", age targets rapidly, cause radiation poisoning and could consume all of space if unleashed within Realspace. The dimension is an unreality beyond even the concept of placea nothingness outside the universe, completely devoid of direction, distance, and time.

                                              Mortis

higher plane of existence above normal time and space, Mortis is the hideaway of the Ones, Celestials that became the physical embodiments of the Light, Dark, and Balance of the Force. Due to the inevitable clash of the Son and Daughter, the realm became the conduit of the Force for the entire universeHere the Force is present in its most untamed and raw form, empowering Luke and Leia far beyond any power they had ever experienced, burning them from the inside out. In fact, extended use of the Force within the realm threatened to dissolve the siblings into the totality of the Force, erasing their histories, age, and identities. Only the Chosen One himself was capable of using the power there safely.

Does Revan scale to Mortis?

On the surface, scaling Revan to the power of the Ones sounds ridiculous. Revan has never even met the Celestials, let alone fought them. But there are two possible ways to scale him to the level of the Force’s purest state.

Firstly,Revan was able to overcome the Will of the Star Forge, the apex of the Rakata’s technology. The Rakata were theorized to haverevolted against the Celestialsand driven them into hiding, or at the very least seized control of their domain. If Rakatan technology could match a Celestial in power, and Revan could master it and overcome it’s dark side power during his battle with Malak, then he should be able to reach this tier of power. Bastila Shan admitted that the Star Forge had the potential to end the Force itself as a Force Wound, given how it seemingly created the plague that severed the Rakata from the Force. This was why Revan did not delve into its secrets the way Malak did, for fear of unleashing something worse. That the Rakata both threatened the Celestials and the Force itself and Revan could master their technology and overcome it, does give credence to some parity.

Secondly, Revan was able to unleash the Force “in its purest form”. The purest form of the Force is found in cases of Force Oneness where the user becomes a conduit of the Force, consistently described as in touch with all creation, the Cosmic Force beyond good and evil, the “luminous reality” akin to Buddhist enlightenment, beyond life and death and the physical world altogether. Remember, Jacen Solo believed his unification with the Force was merely him rediscovering the secrets of the ancient Jedi. Most clearly, it was within the Mortis Monolith that Luke and Leia achieved a state of complete oneness with the Force, unleashing it in its most primal state, potent enough to dissolve targets into the totality of the Force. This primal potential is similar in wording to Revan’s pure Force attacks, and given the prior example of the Rakata matching the Celestials, this is surprisingly consistent. Finally, that the Celestials match Oneness levels of Force power is the fact that they are the ones who passively sustain the spirit energies of Beyond Shadows, a purgatory like realm where one can commune with the dead and ascend to where only the Force is real.

Power Progression of the Sith
"The Coming Darkness of The Ancient Sith Lords" by FreeManWriter

There is a LOT of contention in Star Wars powerscaling over how the Sith and Jedi scale to each other over the millennia. The crux of this debate usually boils down to; are the statements of Yoda, Anakin, and Darth Sidious being the most powerful Jedi and Sith in all history at that point in time valid?

However,  in-universe sources like the official novels, comics, and games, plus statements by the authors of said sources within Legends Continuity state that the Sith and Jedi of the Old Republic, primarily those between 6000 and 4000BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin), were far more powerful and in possession of far greater knowledge and power. Editor Leeland Chee admitted there are no absolutes when it comes to who is the most powerful Sith Lord overall.

Leia and Luke, who had both fought Dark Empire Sidious, viewed the spirit of Exar Kun as one of, if not the most powerful Dark Side presence they had ever faced, a spirit that was markedly weaker than his prime during his life. Tom Veitch, the author of both Dark Empire and Tales of the Jedi where Kun originated, confirmed that Kun was written to be just as powerful as Darth Sidious, if not moreso. This is shown by Luke's concern that it would take the entire Jedi Academy to defeat Marka Ragnos' spirit, which he likely based on his encounter with Kun. Jacen Solo, upon achieving a complete and total Oneness with the Force, reasoned that this state of Oneness had been a known ability to the Ancient Jedi of Revan's era.

Darth Plagueis' studies drew a similar conclusion, believing that Naga Sadow and Exar Kun both possessed superior power to him, whether due to being more powerful or the Dark Side being more plentiful in their time. Upon encountering the spirit of Karness Muur within the Muur Talisman, Darth Vader believed the Talisman would grant him the power to overthrow Darth Sidious, but would still be subservient to Muur himself. Even Darth Krayt (who was admittedly weakened at the time due to Vong poison) had trouble dealing with Muur's power, with Muur even been stated to being the most powerful entity yet seen in the Legacy era. For reference, Darth Krayt had previously been considered a threat by Grandmaster Luke Skywalker who had had thirty years to surpass the version of himself that bested Sidious.

Given that Revan is explicitly stated to surpass Exar Kun and that Darth Malak, who became Revan's equal in power before being massively amped by the Star Forge and was then defeated by a redeemed Revan, does this prove Revan can be scaled against the Prequel, Original, and New Jedi Order heavy hitters? This is a highly contentious topic, as since the two sides of expanded media (out of universe guides vs in-universe statements) tell completely different stories, this will honestly come down to personal intepretation. However, there are clearly enough statements either way to suggest that, whatever the gap in power is, it is not so large that Revan cannot be compared to other Jedi and Sith of different eras. Not to mention, neither Revan nor Vitiate are affiliated with the Jedi or Sith by the time of the Old Republic, so they don't necessarily fit into the scaling chains used to argue

Infinite/Immeasurable Speeds for Star Wars?

At first glance, Star Wars speed ranges do not seem to go too far beyond FTL speeds. However, there are several showings within more obscure Legends material that do warrant attention.

  • Jax Pavan, a mid-tier Jedi, managed with great difficulty to move within a stasis field that he literally compared to time being frozen around him.
  • Rav Naaraan, a Dark Jedi, was sealed within a stasis cage of "frozen time", yet he retained his consciousness enough for his spirit to escape his body and orchestrate his release.
  • Vaylin visibly brute forced her way through Valkorion's time stop, as evidenced by Valkorion's shock. While Charles Boyd did claim that Valkorion was merely altering the Outlander's perception, the gameplay clearly suggests otherwise. Valkorion's statement later on that time had not stopped was likely a lie to pressure the Outlander into acting.
  • Anakin Skywalker as a teenage padawan desperately drew upon the Force so deeply that he perceived time as having literally frozen around him, allowing him infinite time to do what was needed, Obi-Wan later noting that such a feat was possible for Jedi Masters too.
  • Obi-Wan, while breaking his limits to protect the infant Luke Skywalker, ran so fast he warped space-time around him and became a fulmination (explosion) on reality itself
  • Jedi are noted to be capable of navigating Hyperspace without navicomputers, Anakin being capable of stopping a ship within a very narrow window, even though Hyperspace allows for ships to travel at practically infinite speeds, and exists without standard space-time altogether.
Now with Anakin and Obi-Wan moving beyond time, these examples were heat-of-the-moment Force Enhancements; Anakin's anger caused him to instinctively reach out to the Force and calm himself which led to him seeing time freeze, and Obi-Wan was desperately running as fast as he could to protect the newborn Luke Skywalker from assassins. If both could access time-breaking speeds through simply drawing on the Force, rather than secret techniques, rituals or extensive prep time, it should be possible for an advanced Force user like Revan to achieve the same level of speed, especially given Revan's ability to draw on the purest form of Force power though these forms are of course temporary.

Stats
In terms of finite feats, Cloud absolutely dominates Revan. Both have scalings to continent busters like the WEAPONs and Nihilus, but while Star Wars has plenty of planet, star, or even solar system destroying power, Cloud's Summons alone are capable of generating their own dimensional space in order to attack opponents, spaces which frequently include entire constellations and galaxies. Even taking the higher end showings of Vitiate, the World Razer, and Count Dooku potentially summoning galactic or universal levels of power respectively, both the Knights of the Round and Sephiroth's supernova both completely destroy their dimensional space, which in the former's case contains entire galaxy clusters, a far more clear cut showing of destructive capacity. And characters like the WEAPONs and Sephiroth are capable of taking attacks like this no problem.

With infinite feats, the game changes; multiple Jedi and Sith are shown to be capable of controlling or resisting the energy of Hyperspace, which at lower ends is 5th dimensional, and with higher ends completely transcends dimensionality. Thon could create Force Storms, who was weaker than Exar Kun, who was weaker than Malak, whom Revan defeated, which blows Cloud out of the water. At most Cloud could scale to Sephiroth, who in the remake planned to unite all timelines. Even assuming that Sepihroth could do this with his own innate power (which he couldn't and needed the Black Materia to accomplish), this is Infinite-4D at best, while Hypepace at minimum is 5D. Similarly, scaling Cloud to Sephiroth infecting the Lifestream through Geostigma doesn't help either; Sephiroth only accomplished this over years through gradual corruption. Besides, you could just as easily argue Revan surpasses this by scaling above Meetra, Malachor V, and the Star Forge, which all threatened to end the Force. These arguments for affacting the totality of their power sources are dubious at best, so Revan takes a massive advantage.

The highest possible scaling for Cloud being Bartz defeating Exdeath's attempt to reduce all universes to the Void at most ties with Hyperspace's beyond-dimensional properties. Revan's highest end is being able to unleash the purest form of the Force, which matches the Force power of Mortis, existing as a more "real" level of reality in Beyond Shadows that could dissolve one into the Unified Force, above Hyperspace, Otherspace, and even the Dark, the metaphysical darkness at the end of all reality. Even if Revan cannot spam such an attack, just one blast is leagues above anything Cloud has directly survived. So even being generous to both sides, Revan has far greater power.

Regarding speed, while Revan scaling to various Sith Lords affecting others instantly across the entire galaxy potentially puts him at several trillion times faster than light, Sephiroth and the Knights of the Round easily destroying a universe sized dimension puts them thousands of times faster than Revan, and with much less dubiety. Remember, these feats for Revan are the most generous we can possibly be with high ends and do require giving him the benefit of the doubt.

This advantage becomes a lot more dubious when we look at infinite ends though. The only two real ways to place base Cloud within infinite ranges is to argue that his battle with Sephiroth at the Edge of Creation where time and space ends means he was battling in a realm without time, or that scaling to Gilgamesh scaling to Bartz who defeated Exdeath, who was going to collapse the infinite multiverse means he can scale to multiverse destroying attacks giving him speed beyond dimensions. With the Edge of Creation, Cloud did not reach this place through pure speed or show to be capable of breaking its rules; Sephiroth was the one who brought Cloud to this destination, and the mechanics of what was involved are never really made clear. With Gilgamesh, Exdeath easily banished him before his final battle with Bartz, so it is questionable how closely Gilgamesh scales to him.

Star Wars on the other hand has many showings of characters moving within frozen time or reacting to the potentially infinite or immeasurable speeds of Hyperspace, and while there are arguments either way, the sheer quantity of showings does provide a lot of leeway. Anakin achieved complete Oneness with the Force while a Jedi padawan and later surpassed his previous peaks in power multiple times, which would translate to speed as well. And while Revan isn't quite on the level of the Skywalker bloodline, he can certainly be taken to be in a similar league, especially given that Obi-Wan deemed Anakin's time-breaking speed as possible for Jedi Masters.

The main problem for Revan is sustaining this level of speed: Drawing on the Force in this manner is incredibly taxing and dangerous to the wielder, both Luke and Obi-Wan feeling the raw power burn through their cells and atoms. Anakin was able to achieve this state rather easily even as a padawan, but still needed to predict when and where blaster fire would occur. This doesn't debunk his feat, but it does suggest that it cannot be sustained indefinitely. While Revan may be able to achieve much higher speeds than Cloud under the right conditions, he cannot maintain it, whereas Cloud's finite speeds are speeds he has at all times.

Cloud has far greater finite feats of power and speed, while Revan has more consistent scaling to infinite feats of power and (debatably) speed. Granted, Revan may not be able to perform these levels of speed constantly, which provides Cloud some leeway. Ultimately Revan takes power, while speed is debatable enough in either direction to call it a tie.

Arsenal & Abilities
Both Star Wars and Final Fantasy have deep libraries to pull from regarding abilities, and since both find their source in similar sources of spiritual energy, verse-equalization is certainly a factor.

Both are immune to elemental attacks; Cloud's ribbon provides immunity to such status effects while Cloud's Fire and Lightning Materia will be easily absorbed by Revan's tutaminis. Cloud's materia explicitly targets sub-atomic particles, and he should likely be able to resist similar effects given how materia does not one-shot him. Revan has enough knowledge to construct sub-atomic holocron configurations and has resisted deconstruction on Nathema.

Both can heal, empower themselves through force of will, transmute, corrupt, and resist transmutation, sever opponents from their magic, petrify, poison, cancel buffs, and drain both life-forces and magic. Both also have fought through dark magic corrupting their spirit, such as Cloud fighting while surrounded by the Negative Lifestream and Revan calling on the  Light Side on Korriban. While Cloud can use Support Materia, Revan has his stimulants to even the playing field. Cloud has never pulled himself back from death while Revan has, but both can destroy non-physical spirits. Cloud can fly, while Revan can teleport, so both have ways to avoid the other's attacks.

However, Limit Breaks are empowered by rage and sadness, which Feed on Dark Side can use to empower Revan further, alongside Force Speed, Valour, and Dark Rage. Even with empowerment fuelled by noble resolve, Revan's Force Bonds and Corruption will be able to twist his boosts to Revan's benefit. Cloud has fought despite the effects of Geostigma, but he was not able to heal from it by himself, only by the Lifestream, the same way his severe Mako poisoning was only healed by him falling directly into the Lifestream in Mideel.

This leads into another problem Cloud has; his Materia and equipment are a far easier target to exploit for Revan than Revan's Force connection is for him. Cloud relies far more on external equipment for his abilities, while Revan's power is almost exclusively natural. With abilities like Force Sense, Shatterpoint, and Corruption, Revan can easily detect the source of Cloud's magic and either corrupt it or destroy  it, similar to how Geostigma did to the Lifestream.

Cloud's Advantages

Time Stop
If Cloud can catch Revan when his active Force barriers are down, a single well-placed strike will instantly kill the Jedi. Even if you argue that Revan could resurrect himself as an undead revenant as per Shadow of Revan, it is still a massive handicap for him. So, can Revan escape Stop under any circumstances?

Mid-tiers like Jax Pavan and Rav Naaraan have resisted and escaped it; Vaylin simply forced her way through. Padawan Anakin and Obi-Wan were able to affect time simply by drawing deeply on the Force, which does suggest one's Force power can break/negate time manipulation if strong enough. This can be done passively too, Vader's Force presence being compared to a "planet-sized dent in the space-time continuum", and Palpatine's existence as a nexus of energy shattering space around him.

Revan's ability to Balance the Force shares similarities to Force Oneness, which has been shown to transcend time. Force Resistance, which directly lessens or nullifies negative status effects, is similar to Null Magic in Crisis Core, which can shrug off magical attacks, including Stop. This is similar to Resist in VII, which can again allow one to resist Time Stop, as well as Pulse of Life which can do the same

While somewhat nebulous in specifics, Meetra's spirit reached through Revan's containment cell to replenish his Force reserves, which cut him off from time itself. This would be consistent with Rav Naaraan negating time manipulation, so even if Revan cannot attack during this time, Meetra certainly could. Since the Stop spell only lasts for 10 seconds in the remake, Meetra could hold Cloud off long enough for the spell to wear out. And given that an external healing source can remove Stop's status effects, Meetra could be able to free Revan. Obviously, Cloud has the Hourglass to freeze everyone in time, but it is questionable if this would affect Meetra, as some ghosts are immune to Stop, though the Gi Spectors are not.

Overall, Cloud's time stop could potentially end the fight immediately, but it could just as likely not work, either at all or completely enough to allow Revan or Meetra to negate its effects. It is a very useful ability, but it is not an immediate win-condition.

Instant Death
The mechanics of Instant Death are not really explained as some conceptual hax , rather it simply induces death through spiritual manipulation. Given higher tier enemies and bosses are immune to it, it's likely Revan can do the same with Force resistance. Remember, Meetra could face Darth Nihilus, whose mere presence caused death on a planetary scale and Revan survived walking on Nathema, which attempted to tear his essence apart. Even arguing it directly attacks the soul, Revan has resisted attacks like this from the Dread Masters and the Star Forge.

Remove
Can Cloud banish Revan? Remove, or Warp in other games, banishes targets to the Void, the nothingness before all time. Where removed enemies go in VII is not made clear, but if similar to the Escape Spell, whose shattering is similar to Summons drawing enemies into separate dimensions, they are likely being cast into another dimension.

Revan can teleport, but he's never been seen crossing dimensions. Granted, Cronal teleporting into Otherspace proves it's not impossible, but it's still highly improbable. If Cloud catches Revan with this, it's unlikely Revan could escape. Theoretically, Force Oneness transcending space and time could negate it, but this is guesswork. The only real defence Revan has is that the spell is extremely costly to Cloud's MP, so Cloud can only use it sparingly.

Enemy Skills
From learning Revan's abilities and spells, could Cloud turn the tables on him? It is questionable; Cloud could certainly attempt it, given similarities between the Lifestream and the Force, but Revan's abilities that are unique to him are ones Revan has experience countering, be it Affect Mind, Force Bond/Corruption, and Precognition. And given Cloud's far lesser power and skill in using them, Revan would be able to easily navigate around them.

Revan's Advantages

Affect Mind

Revan has frequently influenced armies of Republic and Mandalorian warriors, bypassed 1000 Force-resistant beings' immunity at once, and matched the mental power of Vitiate, who could control entire planetary populations and should scale above those who could affect the entire galaxy or universe with mental attacks.
Cloud, for all his fortitude, has never shown resistance to telepathy on this level... at all. He has resisted Sephiroth's mind control, but Sephiroth has never extended his reach over armies the way Revan has, and his ability to corrupt the Lifestream over time through Geostigma took years, and that was due to the corruptive nature of Jenova's cells.

Cloud's own telepathy is circumstantial at best, and while his willpower is certainly formidable, he has never gone up against someone like Revan. Though Sense and Assess Materia has been used to gain knowledge from his enemies, Revan has hidden his mind from hundreds of Sith at a time, and held off Vitiate's domination, who could dominate planets and drive Sith torturers near to madness in a second. Eventually, Revan would be able to breach Cloud's defences, while Cloud would be stonewalled. And Revan doesn't need Cloud to be in his line of sight to attack him, as he has spread his influence over entire planets and armies, so Cloud's greater speed would be rendered moot. Given that activating materia is done through brain  waves, this will shut down a lot of Cloud's options.

Precognition
Revan's Force precognition, knowledge of Battle Meditation, and mastery of Echani Precognition gives him a sizable advantage in outmaneouvring Cloud's attacks; coupling this with his telepathy, Revan will know ahead of time every move Cloud will make both with physical combat and magical attacks. Cloud can use Sense materia to see Revan's general info, but this doesn't equal predicting his exact moves; besides, Revan has repeatedly resisted having his intentions being seen, so Cloud's Sense likely wouldn't work to begin with. Adding on his ability to teleport, Revan will be able to outmaneouvre Cloud's efforts easily.

MP/HP Drain
Both having ways to siphon off the other's life force and energy should naturally cancel out, but given the difference in power, it is debatable if Cloud could drain enough of Revan's power to make a difference. Remember, Revan's league of power is at least one order of infinity higher than Cloud's, so a finite character draining infinity from an infinite character is unlikely. Besides, Revan has shown the ability to actively resist such an attack, as he did when resisting the Star Forge and Nathema's Force Drain, which extended down to warping reality.

Corruption
Cloud has been damaged by Mako Poisoning and Geostigma in the past, the latter of which corrupts one's spirit to the point where it breaks from the cycle of the Lifestream and instead fell into the corruptive Negative Lifestream. In both cases, he was healed by the Lifestream itself, not his Materia. Given Revan knows Force Plague, Force Corruption and Wounds in the Force, his corruption will weaken Cloud considerably.

Thought Bomb
The Thought Bomb annihilates everything, body and soul while allowing Revan to draw on the residual energy. While the bomb does require extensive preparation, Sith Sorcery does not require such rituals for everything. This has consistently annihilated entire armies of Sith and Jedi with Force defences and covered planetary ranges. Cloud has survived passive exposure to the Lifestream's dissolution, but he has never survived a forceful attempt to eradicate him on this level. It will cause significant damage, but it will likely not one-shot him.

Summons/Support
At first glance, Cloud has a massive advantage over Revan due to the sheer number and power of available Summons, while Revan's support is a droid and a ghost. While Revan can empower HK-47 with Force Imbue, even if we assume HK's power and weaponry can be increased to a comparable level with Summons, the Summons are much faster and have far greater AoE attacks, not to mention HK would be significantly outnumbered. While HK is likely far more intelligent and cunning due to being Revan's elite assassin, he has never dealt with foes of such power, and stealth won't really be a boon if your opponent can just nuke the planet from orbit.

This leads into the second advantage the Summons have; homefield advantage. Drawing their targets into their own dimensions to attack them means that Revan will not be able to easily avoid their attacks. Granted, he'd still be strong enough to survive, but it's debatable if he would be able to figure out in time that he'd been transported to another dimension, and even more debatable if his teleportation could send him back. There are cases of spirits teleporting back from the Netherworld and possibly across time and higher dimensions, but these are questionable.

The limit to this is that no summon has anything approaching Revan's power, so their attacks by themselves cannot hope to harm him. Even the Knights of the  Round obliterating a universe is nothing compared to wielding higher-dimensional Hyperspace, so Revan could just oneshot them. Granted, some summons do attack from orbit or across galaxies, but the Force allows users to attack across solar systems, half the galaxy, and across dimensions lacking physical laws altogether, so Revan could still attack from a distance if he didn't just teleport to them.

Also, while you can argue that creating these dimensions means the Summons could just draw Revan into the vacuum of space and leave him there, they are never shown doing so as a method of attack, and their dimensions collapse pretty much the second their attacks are complete, so it's unlikely one would just leave Revan to float in space and leave him there for an hour.

Revan has an advantage in Meetra. Meetra was able to constantly replenish his strength and Force reserves at a comparable rate to Vitiate draining them for 300 years straight. This by itself gives Revan the advantage in stamina, as he could potentially fight on indefinitely, while Cloud would eventually tire out. However, Cloud does have the ability to combat spirits, so he could take her out if he got an opening.

Speaking of openings, could HK-47 potentially get the opportunity to snipe or incapacitate Cloud from a distance? Conventional blunt force such as explosives and blasters would be of little use given Cloud's durability, as would attempts at psychological warfare since he wouldn't have much to go on or target. Revan's Force Imbuement could potentially empower HK's weaponry, but we don't know to what extent HK's empowered state scales to Revan himself. If we suggest that, given Revan's infinite power advantage, HK scales to some level of infinity, his attacks could likely hurt Cloud. This is purely theoretical, though. HK would likely be able to hide himself from Cloud given his experience hunting Jedi, so he could distract Cloud long enough for Revan to disable him.

With both the Summons and HK, neither are strong enough to inflict real damage on their targets, so they surprisingly cancel out. However, Meetra is far more valuable, able to constantly replenish him and allow him to prolong the fight while targeting Cloud, assuming Cloud doesn't get the chance to destroy her spirit. So ultimately, Revan has the advantage in terms of usefulness, but Cloud can remove Meetra from the equation if he got the chance.

Verdict
Cloud and Revan have insanely versatile arsenals that overlap and cancel out in many ways, and both have several abilities that could immediately incapacitate the other, so it comes down to who would get the chance first. Here, Revan takes the edge. Revan is far more pragmatic and ruthless than Cloud with more experience of combat, so he would likely attempt this first. The second advantage is that abilities like Affect Mind, Force Sever, and Corruption and Wounds in the Force are abilities that explicitly target Cloud's ability to use magic, whether by shutting down his brain waves or removing his energy. And with his extensive precognition, Drain Knowledge, and Shatterpoint, he would know what to target first to prevent Cloud from escaping or attacking first/avoid the attacks if Cloud used them, with his far greater power allowing him to bypass Cloud's defences.

For Cloud to win, he would basically have to blitz Revan immediately and kill him on the first try, otherwise Revan would resort to his disabling moves. Cloud’s greater finite speed would be paramount, but Revan does have the ability to exceed it with infinite showings. So again, Cloud would have to immediately kill Revan before he could react. Otherwise, Revan would amp himself to match or just use his infinite reaction speed through scaling to Hyperspace navigation. And if Revan used his telekinesis or telepathy to physically and mentally incapacitate Cloud, Cloud’s far inferior power means he would have no way to counter it, rendering himself helpless.

Finally, Cloud has never shown the ability to protect his materia from interference, something Revan would immediately think to target, corrupting or draining them of power, leaving Cloud with far fewer options. Revan would otherwise resist Cloud's attempts to do the same, given he is far less dependent on external equipment, wearing Cloud down until he was helpless.

This isn't to say Cloud couldn't kill Revan with Remove if he got the chance; more often than not though he's not getting that chance. Besides, Cloud's go-to methods in most media are basic sword attacks, so even when he did use his hacks, it would likely be too late. Compared to Revan, who would be smart enough to use his own counters first.

Revan takes Arsenal and Abilities.

Tertiary Factors

Both Cloud and Revan are renowned swordsmen with plenty of wins under their belt against far more experienced foes such as Sephiroth and Mandalore. The difference is that Revan has far more victories over a wider variety of skilled combatants; Revan has defeated guards comparable to fighters that mastered every fighting style in the galaxy, precognitive fighters that could predict battles minutes in advance, and was definitively scaled above Meetra Surik, who could adapt to and learn any fighting style after seeing it only once. Cloud has matched the greatest fighters on the planet, but Revan has bested the best warriors in the galaxy.

While Gilgamesh could rival Cecil, who could counter an opponent's moves, Revan scaled above Meetra, who beat Atris, who beat Brianna, who defeated five precognitive fighters at once, a far greater scaling chain. Cloud's victory over Gilgamesh, who could decimate armies, is matched by Revan doing the same thing on Korriban and the Star Forge. Cloud's defeat of Sephiroth, who is a similar prodigy to Revan, was his power of will allowing him to surpass Sephiroth's power rather than definitively out-duelling him.

With experience, Revan is much older than Cloud and has been training and fighting practically all his life. Add onto that that Revan has fought in and single-handedly ended two wars, he will have far more knowledge of combat tactics than Cloud. Cloud did work for Shinra, but remember, one of the main points of his story is that he failed to graduate the SOLDIER program, meaning that until Nibelheim, he lacked the wartime experience Revan had. Revan is also a master strategist, planner and manipulator, who has repeatedly outplayed Jedi and Sith in both combat and psychological warfare. He is also a master of stealth, and can use distant power to affect Cloud across entire planets and solar systems while hiding his presence and energy signature to prevent Cloud from finding him, especially given he knew how to hide from Jedi with enhanced senses.

This superior skill is critical when factoring in endurance. Cloud's ability to heal stab wounds through sheer willpower gives him a greater healing factor, and both have fought marathon battles while being attacked spiritually, but Meetra replenishing him gives Revan practically unlimited stamina, and given the difference in power and durability, Cloud's attacks won't be able to inflict much damage on him at all.

Revan takes Tertiary Factors
Cloud
"I pity you. I really do. You just don't get it at all. There's not a thing I don't cherish! Stay where you belong. In my memories."

Advantages
  • Summons vastly outclass any support Revan has and give Cloud the numbers advantage......
  • Resists a majority of Revan's energy attacks
  • Much faster, stronger, and tougher with finite ends.
  • Could potentially copy Revan's abilities
  • Superior healing factor
  • Time Stop and Remove could potentially win the fight instantly
  • Has pushed through mental manipulation in the past
  • Being able to fly is just really useful
  • Actually got a remake.
  • Has defeated opponents similar to Revan in the past...

Disadvantages
  • ....but are far weaker than Revan and could likely be escaped
  • Much weaker with infinite ends
  • Has no precognition to counter Revan's
  • Less experienced
  • Has no defence against Affect Mind or Corruption
  • Gets curb-stomped in skill and intelligence
  • Many of his offensive options get resisted
  • His limit breaks will only empower Revan
  • His Materia is an easy target for Tutaminis, Force Sever, and Force Drain.
  • ...but has repeatedly struggled against them and usually beat them due to extenuating circumstances
  • "Four guys at minimum, am I remembering that particular threat correctly?"

Revan
"I am Revan reborn, and before me you are nothing"

Advantages
  • Much stronger with infinite ends
  • Balance of the Force and Revan's Fury could kill Cloud in one shot
  • Has more concrete feats of immeasurable speed
  • Far more skilled, experienced, intelligent, and ruthless
  • Precognition will make it incredibly difficult for Cloud to land a hit
  • Skilled in manipulation that Cloud has struggled against in the past
  • Can arguably resist Cloud's Time Stop and Instant Death.........
  • Mind-reading will give him all the information he needs
  • Teleportation is just really useful

  • Chris Avellone
  • Is the greatest twist in videogame history
Disadvantages
  • Far weaker and slower with finite ends
  • Has far weaker backup to call on
  • Inferior healing
  • .....but they could kill him along with Remove depending on interpretation
  • Most of his hacks will be resisted
  • Could have his moves copied
  • Less versatile abilities overall
  • Still no remake
  • Didn't get the KOTOR III we deserved

This is far from an easy call to make and an extremely difficult fight to win. Both are under a ticking clock to end the fight quickly before the other either blitzes or immobilizes them with their unique abilities, and both possess incredible levels of power and skill. However, Revan’s superior power, skill, and experience will more often than not allow him to outplay Cloud and work around his defences, whittling his arsenal down until he’s left without his most useful trump cards. Both have effective ways to incapacitate the other, but Cloud’s only guaranteed method is Remove, which Revan’s precognition and teleportation could likely avoid. On the other hand, Cloud has no defence in terms of distance or potency against Revan’s Affect Mind, Force Stasis, and Corruption/Force Bond, which will immediately immobilize Cloud’s mind and body and render him helpless. And given the massive difference in power, Revan will only need one solid hit on Cloud to permanently put him down.

Let this fantasy end at the hands of a knight…..

The winner is Revan.
